What We Do: After School Programs  
 
 Quality Out-of-School Time: After School Programs Minimize

KCIS currently oversees the 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant awarded to Kalamazoo Public Schools.  The grant funds after-school programs for five schools and serves more than 400 students.  The goal is to increase the academic achivement of students with significant academic and behavioral needs.  The five schools served are:

  • Greenwood Elementary (at Milwood Elementary site)
  • Lincoln International Studies School
  • Milwood Elementary
  • Milwood Magnet Center for Math, Science, and Technology
  • Northglade Montessori Magnet School.

Enrichment providers include:                                         

  • BeadVenture
  • Crawlspace Eviction
  • Kalamazoo County YMCA
  • Kampus Kidz
  • Lightning Kicks Martial Arts & Fitness
  • Painted Moon Studio
  • Prevention Works
  • West Michigan Glass Society
  • Young Chefs Academy

KCIS also has after-school programs at Kalamazoo Central High School and King-Westwood Elementary that provide tutoring and other activiities to strengthen writing and literacy skills.
